Great Sewing Podcasts to Enjoy While You Stitch l Bernina Quilt N’ Sew Studio
One of the great things about being part of the sewing community is sharing experiences with people who have the same loves as you and learning from each other. And every stitcher knows the best part of life is when you’re creating something and the second best part is when you’re dreaming about making something.
Whether you like listening to something while you work or prefer to labor in silence but could use sewing-related content to enjoy when you aren’t, sewing podcasts could be a great addition to your life. We’ve compiled some of our favorites here to give you some ideas the next time you want to join in the sewing community through audio.
Love to Sew - This one is hosted by two young ladies from Vancouver, British Columbia, who clearly really love sewing and talking to each other about sewing and anything else that comes up. They also feature messages from readers and interviews with designers, small business owners in fashion and others in the sewing world. As the show’s description says, “Listen to your favorite sewing pattern designers and inspiring makers who truly understand your obsession with sewing.” - Love to Sew Podcast
While She Naps - Abby Glassenberg started the While She Naps blog (the name is a play on the term for roughing up a fabric to create a soft finish, as with flannel) in 2005. It was her way of recording and sharing her work creating unique dolls and toys, then a hobby that grew into a thriving small business. In her podcast, she talks to others who’ve created similar businesses about how they did it, what they’re working on and what new stuff they love. - While She Naps Podcast
Sew & Tell - This one’s hosted by three people with widely divergent backgrounds in sewing who talk sewing and interview big players in stitching as a business and a hobby. The trio asserts as its mission “connecting the sewing community and keeping listeners up-to-date on news and trends of sewing and fashion.” - Sew & Tell Podcast
Modern Sewciety - Like so many who love sewing, host Stephanie got into sewing after having a child. She learned sewing from her mother and grandmother, and put that knowledge to work as a stay-at-home mother making clothes, quilts and bags for her daughter. She has a master’s degree in guidance and counseling and says she thinks of the podcast as a way to put her counseling experience to use, so you’re likely to get a little mood boost from it, too! - Modern Sewciety Podcast
If any of these podcasts and blogs get you inspired to try something new in sewing, embroidery, or quilting, Bernina Sew N’ Quilt of Chattanooga is your source for everything you’ll need to get into it.
